My dog has a pancreatic disease, can I give it a treat?

The pancreas is an organ that produces digestive enzymes. Dogs with pancreatic diseases (like exocrine pancreatic insufficiency/EPI) are not able to produce sufficient digestive enzymes. This results in a disrupted digestion or ‘maldigestion’. Mainly the digestion of fat is disturbed. Typical symptoms include diarrhoea, weight loss (despite good appetite) and poor body and coat condition.

In case of pancreas problems, it is advised to not give any treats to the animal.
