Self preparing food for your cat can be a daunting task. Usually the specific animal protein, the veterinarian prescribes, is difficult to obtain. The preparation of the food may be time consuming. Time is precious, leading to the self preparation of the diet to not always be ideal. In addition, some types of meat have an unpleasant smell during preparation. To aid with the self preparation of a diet, TROVET has developed a special product range: Unique Protein.
To compose an elimination diet, you normally only need to boil a carbohydrate source and add it to the Unique Protein product. Preference is given to white rice or potato. In addition, at least after four weeks, you add a dietary supplement (TROVET Balance) to prevent vitamin and mineral deficiencies.
As an exception to the Unique Protein range, for cats in the Unique Protein (Rabbit) variant it is recommended to use this product without adding a carbohydrate source. For cats, following the feeding advice with only Unique Protein (Rabbit), an optimal protein / energy ratio is achieved. Adding a carbohydrate source, in addition to the recommended amount of Unique Protein (Rabbit) can cause an energy intake which is too high.
It is advised to consult a veterinarian before using this diet. Recommended period of use: 4 weeks. If the intolerance symptoms disappear, add TROVET Balance (vitamin and mineral mix) daily. In the absence of intolerance symptoms, Unique Protein (Rabbit) can be used for life, in combination with TROVET Balance. Critically ill animals, growing animals, animals in the final stage of pregnancy and lactating animals require the addition of TROVET Balance from the initial use of Unique Protein.
Next to continuing the use of Unique Protein, it is also possible to choose for a complete TROVET hypoallergenic diet with a similar (animal) protein source.
